Famille Rose porcelain, known for its delicate pink hues & intricate designs, emerged in 18th-century China & was influenced by European techniques. It marked a significant shift in the traditional form.
The term, meaning "pink family," comes from the French & refers to the enamel glazes that featured shades of pink, white, yellow & green.
These colours were known to the Chinese as "yangcai," meaning "foreign colours," due to their European origins.
The intricate designs often depicted auspicious symbols, floral motifs & scenes from daily life & reflected the rich cultural tapestry of the Qing Dynasty.
Our pieces originate from the 1960s & are becoming increasingly hard to source, as quantities of these pieces are in shorter supply.
These bases fit a regular lamp shade.
