Qing Dynasty Dragon Plate
Qing Dynasty Dragon Plate
This Famille Rose porcelain plate is highly decorated in vivid detail, with two auspicious dragons. The design features stylised flames and a symbolic pearl at its centre.
They characterise the pursuit of wisdom, enlightenment, prosperity & power. The dragon, representing strength & benevolence, is often shown chasing a "flaming pearl," which represents truth.
Plates of this kind were produced in the Qing Dynasty, around the 19th and early 20th century, for both the domestic and export market.
Hand painted in China.
Plate measures 19cm diameter.
Our vintage Chinoiserie collection features a carefully curated range of vintage & antique items. They are generally one-offs & in excellent condition. Any minor defects will be noted.
