A contemporary version of this traditional green jar, which originates from China's Hunan province and would once have been used to carry water or rice wine.

Our unique design follows the same age-old process and achieves a striking finish.

The jar is firstly hand-thrown and the floral detail hand-carved. It is then placed in a barrel of green pigment to give it its distinctive green glaze - the artisan is careful not to allow the pigment inside the jar. A high-temperature firing helps to achieve its vibrant, subtle crackle-glaze & high gloss finish.
