The horse is one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. According to mythology, it is closely related to the dragon and was once believed to be able to fly.
The horse symbolises the perfect contrast to the Dragon, with its docile and controlled nature.
This animal features prominently throughout Chinese art history, reflecting its valuable status as a working animal.
Please note, there is a small crack in the ceramic to the left side of the base. This does not affect the lamp’s use in any way and can not be seen from the front view. It is a reasonable sign of its vintage nature and the discounted price fairly reflects this flaw.
